How to write a creative brief that actually works

The best creative work starts with a sharp brief. Get it right and the whole project moves faster; get it vague and you’ll pay for it in endless revisions.

What every brief needs

The problem you’re solving, who it’s for, what success looks like, the one thing to communicate, practical constraints, and honest references. Keep it to a page — clarity beats length.

What to leave out

Don’t prescribe the solution. A brief defines the problem and the goal; the whole point of hiring a creative team is to let them solve it in ways you hadn’t imagined.
